in-te-ro-duc-tion

My goal is to make a character dolls with characters like mild autism kids (not to make fun of them though). Later, I will be selling those character dolls and give the money for charity (to the autism kids). The Area of interaction it is linked to is human ingenuity because I will focus more about the making of the character dolls.

As we grow up, we start to not realizing about out community and surroundings, for example, autism kids. It is the reason that I choose my topic. Another reason is because I personally like making stuff, like crafty-dollish stuff. Its one of my hobby, something I love to do.

My plan is to first of all meet the autism kids first and somehow, somewhat analyze them to know more about their characteristics and stuff. After that, I will be designing the dolls – as soon as possible so that I can stitch and make the dolls. At the same time, after I design the dolls, I will ask other people, which is better and how to make my design better. I might ask the art students more about that because they know how to make it better and I will ask for a professional opinion about my designs. Meanwhile, at the same time, I will be researching about the professional’s character dolls and stuff. Before making the dolls, I will have to find the materials first (and find the one that suits the best one for the dolls). After that, I will (of course) make the product with help from my surroundings, such as my friends, family and I might ask a tailor to help me make it (if there is not enough time). Later, I will sell it in school (probably) and also outside school. I might post it on facebook and also take order from there.

I’ll know that I achieved my goal if I made a lot of profit from it and people actually like my product. I will also know that I achieved my goal is through a survey (to the people that bought my dolls).

personal project EXHIBITION *yay*

nihal's
she made an environmentally friendly amusement park. she had some struggle with the application because she use a new application (so she needs to do the tutorial first and stuff). and the application expects her to be very precise about the length and measurement. though she finally made it *yay* another struggle she had was with the time management, because except for the personal project homework, she still has other homeworks to do.

winie's
winie made a novel about holocaust and stuff, she was too excited about her product that she somehow somewhat kind of forgot about her process journal. her product was really really good, but she said that she had some struggle with her process journal (and the process journal is kind of boring -- too much words). i personally really like her book though :]

kristie's
she made a logo and a t-shirt/bag/shoes with her logo on it, and she gave us an advice to only write one of them but then in the end you make more than what your plan it (MORE POINTS!) she had some struggle because she made too much stuff (so she cant focus on one of them -- she focused on too much stuff). she thought that her product is going to be a failure but it turns out that her product & process journal is a success.

reflection:
i learn a lot from their exhibitions and presentations, i personally like their products but they said that the products aren't as important as the process journal. they teach them a lot of stuff, of how to do the PP and how to be prepared for what's coming. they said that we have to be well managed to get through PP and not do it last minute.

the SMART-est goal

in the end i chose the FIRST GOAL for many different reasons.
one of the reasons is because i (honestly) like that one better and there will be a greater impact in the society. the first goal is much more specific and i think it is much more fun than the other one. another reason is because it is very unique.

research notes.

planning & development

1. what is your specific link with an Area(s) of Interaction?
* The area of interaction is human ingenuity because i will create a doll with their own unique characteristics and i will focus more on the making of it (though later i willl sell it and give the money for charity).
* The area of interaction is environment because i want to focus on the environment around Indonesia (Lombok to be specific).

2. what is the goal of your personal project?
* My goal for my personal project is to make character dolls with their own unique characteristics (based on mild autism kids -not to make fun of them though), and later i will sell the dolls for charity. i will focus more on the making, and the size will be around 13cm x 20cm.
* My second goal for my personal project is to make a photo album to show the beauty of Indonesia's nature (Lombok -- to be specific).

3. what is your personal motivation to set this goal to your topic?
* my personal motivation to set this goal to my topic is from my personal experiences working with stitching and also my personal environment.
* my personal motivation to set this goal to my topic is from my personal experiences because i went to Lombok a few years ago and it is very beautiful there -- i'd love to go there again.

4. what form of presentation do you have in mind? (e.g. essay, report experiment, work of art, etc) give a brief description, if necessary.
* the form of presentation i have in mind is dolls/critters
* the form of presentation i have in mind is a photo album

5. how are you going to achieve the goal? (planning)
* i'm going to achieve my goal by designing the dolls first, and probably make a survey (which other people like most and stuff). after that, i'll makek the dolls and then sell it (to anyone) and give the money for charity (to the autism foundation).
* i'm going to achieve my goal by planning to go to Lombok first, and meanwhile i have to learn to take good pictures. after that when i go there, i take pictures and compile it to a photo album.

6. how do i know if i achieved my goal?
* i'll know that i achieved my goal if i got a lot of money from the doll selling (profit) so the money can go to the autism foundation.
* i'll know that i achieved my goal if i finished the photo album on time.

7. i will need to find out the following things to achieve my plan (this topic will be further research using research note form):
* i will need to find out the following things to achieve my plan: kinds of dolls/critters (unique ones made by professionals); ways to make the dolls; the autism kids foundation nearby
* i will need to find out the following things to achieve my plan: good places in lombok; best way to take pictures (outdoors specifically).

* FIRST GOAL/IDEA
* SECOND GOAL/IDEA

getting started.

1. what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
to be honest, i enjoy sleeping in my spare time (of course) and seeing or making crafty stuff. for example such as dolls and such. i also enjoy playing piano at my spare time.

2. what are some of your hobbies or interests?
some of my hobbies and interests are making crafty stuff, collect unique dolls, playing music and play with pets. another interest of mine is also exploring this world's community, because sometimes, on my way home to school, i wonder what other people (street people) are like, how they live and what their thinking and such; its just interesting to know.

3. what are some of the things you do really well? (e.g. act, play piano, or soccer)
some of the things i do really well are playing piano because i have played piano since i was little and also stitching (hahaha :p)

4. what would you like to be better at?
i'd love to be better at making crafty stuff so that i can make some for my own :p and i dont really know why but i just really enjoy making crafty stuff.

5. when it comes to writing, what types of written assignments do you most enjoy and why?
when it comes to writing, i prefer to write an argumentative essay because i like analyzing stuff and try to actually defend the side i believe in. i also enjoy writing narrative essays because you can almost write about anything.

6. what types of written assignments do you least enjoy  and why?
i dont really like writing reflective essays because i dont really like to reflect on the things i wrote, and i'm just simply not really good at it.

7. think about your school and wider community. is there any aspect of your community that really infuriates you? (e.g. perhaps there are not enough trees in your local park)?
usually, people thinks that being an autism kid is okay, but it is not for them. i have 2 blind aunties and one of them make a company that works with autism kids. i have met them once, and i kind of feel bad for them.
another aspect of community that really infuriates me is global warming because people usually only talk about not wasting paper, plastic and such; but only some makes the difference.

8. at this point in time, what are some of your ideas for your Personal Project? include what you would like the final result to be and what your goal would be.
* make character dolls and the dolls have a similar characters with autism kids (not to make fun of them though), and then later, i'll sell the dolls and give the money for charity (and to increase people's awareness about autism kids).

that is the only idea i have for now.

9. how will your project ideas relate to the Areas of Interaction: approaches to learning, community and service, spirituality, health & social education, homo faber, and environment?
* health and social education because it involves the surroundings and also our social, psychological, physical and economic world.

commenting on previous years' PP

WINIE ANDREA'S
she made a novel and she had a really nice layout examples and also a very clear and neat explanations about what she's going to do and such. she also had her plan well managed. and from the picture (one/two of her book pages), we can really see that she has a very wide range of words that makes the book very interesting to read.

BAGASKORO ADISUARDHANA'S
from his website, i know that he had a lot of research and work examples for his product. his final product is a poster that give people more awareness of pregnancy. he had a lot of his friends helping him to make the poster (for the picture part). he also made a survey so that he can know which of his work is best. i learn that we need to make our supervisor understand our plan so that we can be on the right track. another thing i learned is that in grade 10, there will be major projects, so we have to have a well time management.

KUMARI NIHAL KAUR'S
for her personal project, she made a miniature theme park using a program in a computer. she had a lot of research notes and such and she had quite a lot of choices on what kind of things she wants to put in her miniature theme park. but, her latest blog post was on january 17, so i dont really know how it turns out. though i think her product went quite well because she got a lot of help from her senior and her supervisor seemed quite interested in her movie.
